Training
Our central training function provides a full portfolio of both in-house and externally accredited training programmes to meet the changing needs of our business and to encourage individuals to develop their skills and reach their full potential.
Virtually all of our training is provided by our in-house team. However, where appropriate training is externally accredited. Organisations we work with include:
- Institute of Advanced Motorists
- Driving Standards Agency
- Skills for Logistics
- Institute of Leadership and Management
- Independent Training Standards Scheme and Register
- RTITB
- OCR
We have structured training courses covering the following.
Management Development Training Programme
Our management development training is directly linked to our business strategy. Several levels of our MDP courses are available. There are programmes for supervisory staff who want to progress as well as for more senior management staff who are developing new skills.
The Management Development Training Programmes lead to externally accredited qualifications. They promote personal development and aid succession planning.
Training is facilitated during a series of off-the-job training sessions where delegates participate in individual and group assignments and assessments.
Driver training
The continued development of our drivers is vital and we have adopted a pro-active approach to the national drivers' skills shortage.
We are an Institute of Advance Motorists (IAM) accredited training company. Advanced driving is part of our driving culture. All our sites have a driving assessor, qualified through the Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM), responsible for developing road risk strategies and implementing best practice processes for all our drivers.
We have introduced a Young Driver Scheme which is open to anybody between the ages of 17 to 21. Both new and existing employees have the opportunity to gain and an NVQ level 2 in Driving Goods Vehicles and a "C" category driver's licence.
Graduate Development Programme
CEVA offers suitable candidates a fully integrated graduate training programme, which provides participants with the opportunity to gain experience in all sectors of the logistics business.
IS training
Our Information Systems trainers deliver a suite of Microsoft Office packages including Word, Excel and Powerpoint.
They also support the business with in-house bespoke packages designed to assist with the management of our transport and warehouse operations.
For new business implementations the IS trainers are an integral part of the team from an early stage. They learn the system, design the training material and ultimately deliver classroom and on-the-job training.
