Excellence in Home Delivery recognized at international level for end consumer added value
Milan, 24 June 2008 - CEVA Logistics, leading logistics operator in Italy and ranked fourth in the world, won the European Supply Chain Distinction Award in the "Most Effective Collaboration" category, awarded on 14 May in Dusseldorf with an innovative project relative to home delivery of high technology content products. The award represents a significant recognition of the company which, in the last year, has distinguished itself with its commitment, orientation toward innovation and ability to produce results in the logistics and supply chain management sectors.
The project, implemented by CEVA Logistics Italy, is based on an effective and reliable integrated logistics process that guarantees the private customer with delivery directly to their home and the initiation of fixed network services.
To meet the goal of increasing the private customer's satisfaction, CEVA has set up a dedicated Call Centre, in order to improve the availability of the recipient and hence the percentage of successful deliveries, maintaining delivery times within 7 days.
With this innovative system, CEVA ensures a daily transmission of the results of telephone contacts, complete with feedback information and any changes to the personal details of the recipient.
The added value gained from this process has led to an increase in the performance of the logistics chain: in fact, CEVA has been able to identify and eliminate any critical elements, granting the business customer reduced response times and quick identification of the solution for delivering to the homes of consumers, optimizing deliveries based on the availability of the latter. To get an idea of the impact of this project, one only needs to consider that the delivery return has increased by 5 percentage points.
For the service in question, at present CEVA uses the Bagni di Tivoli warehouse, with a dedicated surface area of 35,000 sq m for the management of several activities including the storage and conservation of materials, the movement of more than 1,600,000 items per year, the receipt of orders and planning of shipments, packaging and delivery, shipment tracking and returns management.
Depending on the requests of the individual end customer, CEVA deals with kitting (assembly) of products to be shipped with the opportunity to add advertising/informative material, even of a personalized nature, such as brochures, "welcome letters" and contracts.
In order to guarantee optimum transparency of the service, CEVA has made the Track & Trace service available, with an IT-based interface to monitor the receipt and status code of all deliveries via the Web, telephone or e-mail. In fact, with the tracking system, CEVA guarantees the complete and constant monitoring of products and the informative certification of delivery, so as to verify that each product is correctly matched to the right recipient.
"It is with great satisfaction that we accept this award, achieved thanks to experience gained by CEVA with the leading operators in the Fixed Telephony and Mobile sectors, for whom we can offer extensive know how in the management of delivery of TLC products to private customers", says Marco Loni, TLC Division Manager, Publishing & FastMoving. "The award is an acknowledgement of the ability of CEVA Logistics to ensure speed and transparency in the distribution process, as well as effectiveness and flexibility in the management of contact with the private customer, all through a dedicated site and leading edge information services. This result is particularly important for a country like Italy, whose infrastructures and transport system characteristics do not facilitate the achievement of high standards in terms of delivery efficiency, and shows that the combined project capacities for excellence of two operators can effectively overcome these limits".
