Lean

Lean Centre of ExcellenceCEVA Logistics is recognised for its strength in operations and service excellence, which is reflected in numerous awards received in the past years.

In 2004, as part of our ongoing quest to improve our operational performance, we launched our LEAN initiative in order to help our clients increase productivity, reduce costs and improve quality and service levels. LEAN enables us to deliver continuous improvement to our customers and change the culture of our organisation.

LEAN is a standard methodology for identifying, analysing and eliminating waste. It has been developed by Toyota, which have been the most profitable auto manufacturer in the world for the past 25 years.

CEVA implements LEAN by tackling waste, inflexibility and variability:

  • LEAN enemy 1: waste
We reduce waste by eliminating non-value adding processes resulting in lower costs, improved quality and more consistent throughput.
  • LEAN enemy 2: inflexibility
We increase flexibility by better matching throughput and demand, so we can deliver the right amount at the right time to our client.
  • LEAN enemy 3: variability
We increase consistency by improving process reliability, while lowering cost and improving quality.

Our in-house team of LEAN experts are rolling out LEAN to all our warehouse operations. We train and empower all our people, from the bottom-up, to look for new ways to improve their day-to-day activities.

We are also extending the scope of our LEAN initiative to our transportation operations, as well as office and administration processes. Our overall goal is to enable our customers to reduce inventory, reduce lead times, further streamline their supply chains and lower their overall supply chain cost.
